Porcelain is fragile! Who knew?...Oh wait, I did.

So many new ideas, so little time! For the past week I've been having a blast trying out Porcelain clay, and seeing juuuuust how thin I can stretch it. Turns out, very thin! Only problem is that I was a little clumsy today and cracked 2 bowls before I could put them in the kiln. But that just gives me more reason to make more, so I can live with it.

The studio has been very busy lately with so many classes to clean up after...though most students are good about it, fortunately. Loaded up 3 bisque kilns today of their work...so neat to see how differently everyone's ideas come about!

Today I glazed my fancyfancy goblets and many other pieces for my upcoming show. So excited it's all coming together just as I'm imagining it.

Back to the grind!

So I'm getting back in the swing of things again at school...Have decided on a general idea for my upcoming Senior Show (I'd tell you the dates, but it's in my notebook aaalllll the way across the room). The theme is a dinner party, so I'll be focusing on several styles of place settings, which means I'll have LOTS of practice on plates (not my strongest - yet!) and other dinnerware. Last week I created my first fancy-fancy goblets, which were a lot of fun and survived the kiln. So I'm still tossing around ideas on the decorative side, as in what kind of settings - historic? Family-oriented? Much to think about...

Sell it! Sell it all!

So today we had our semi-annual Student Art Sale on campus. Great turnout, and we all sold a good number of pieces.  Once I brought my pieces from home and added them to the ones in the studio, I ended up with about 5 boxes of pots to sell. It's strange seeing so many hours of work all piled up like that. Ah well, at least they're all going to appreciative homes! A few of my favorites I sold, because it's kinda addictive, knowing that people love your work and actually want to pay for it. For the most part though, it just makes me want to get back to the wheel and make more. Hoping tomorrow will be just as successful!
